Young People show us the way...Grant Smith yet again stays away. Wheeler Corner 47 28th Sept 2019

They came in their hundreds, young, old and hundreds in between.

They were demanding that the Council and the government do more to combat climate change.
More than simply talk about money money..as there placards said, money does not buy protection from mans massive destruction of the environment...you can't simply cancel the pollution of our rivers you have to stop polluting them!  If school kids can get that message correct why the hell can't our world and local politicians not grasp that obvious fact.

These young active men and women have more brain power than three Donald Trumps, two Brazillian Presidents, and one Indian PM combined...really they do.

They, thats the young protesters put to shame the various numbers of PN and other sitting councillors or candidates, who stayed away from the SS march for the climate:

Some Councillors did turn up, all three Green Party candidates appeared on the scene. Mayoral Candidate, Teanau Tuiono and Renee Dingwall and Brent Barrett a sitting Councillor stepped up as well. Grant Smith the Mayor once again failed to show his face, like wise for Lew Findlay and Vaughan Dennison, Leonie Hapeta, Karen Naylor and a whole heap of others...but there were exceptions, Duncan McCann made it along with Zulfiqar Butt and there may have been one or two others that I did not spot...here are a few pictures:

I'm unsure how many people took part in the march but I'd guess it would be around six to eight hundred...I think the present Councillors especially the elderly male and long serving but all most inactive women business Councillors are lucky that 16 year old don't have the vote... but with a little luck in the not to distant future that may change... If the Americans can impeach their weird President and if the Brit's can sack their idiotic PM then anything is possible.
This from Radio New Zealand:
"We are now receiving credible reports that 170,000 are striking nationwide. That’s an entire 3.5% of New Zealand’s entire population. @GretaThunberg
